2. Acceptance of terms
By using this website or enquiring about our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are acting on behalf of another person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.
Engagement of our Services does not begin until a written engagement letter and fee agreement has been exchanged between both parties.
3. Service description
Sandaran Law provides legal advisory services focused on pension matters in Malaysia. Our three defined services are:
- Standing Review (RM 155) — a review of pension documentation and position, with a written note and discussion session.
- Dispute and Appeal Assistance (RM 615) — managed support through a contested pension matter, including correspondence and documentation.
- Retirement Income Guidance (RM 370) — ongoing legal counsel for retirement income and dependant provisions.
Services are available to clients in Malaysia. The scope of each service is as described on this website and confirmed in writing at the outset of any engagement.
4. Client responsibilities
When using our website or engaging our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information relevant to your matter
- Inform us promptly of any changes to your circumstances
- Keep your contact information up to date
- Use this website only for lawful purposes
- Not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit content from this website without written permission
5. Intellectual property
All content on this website — including text, layout, and design — is owned by Sandaran Law or its licensors. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use only. No content may be reproduced, modified, or used commercially without prior written consent from Sandaran Law.
6. Payment terms
All fees are denominated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and confirmed in writing before any work begins. Payment is due as specified in the engagement letter. We accept payment by bank transfer. Receipts are provided upon request.
Fees that remain unpaid beyond the agreed date may attract a reminder charge. Where a matter is discontinued at the client's request before completion, fees for work already undertaken will be due on a proportional basis, as set out in the engagement letter.
7. Service delivery
We will carry out services with reasonable skill and care, and in accordance with the scope agreed in writing. Timelines provided are estimates only. The resolution of pension matters may involve third parties and regulatory bodies outside our control, and we cannot commit to specific outcome timelines.
Any changes to the agreed scope of a service will be discussed with you and confirmed in writing before additional work is undertaken.
8. Disclaimers
Information published on this website is for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. Legal advice is only provided within the context of a formal engagement.
We do not make assurances regarding the outcome of any pension matter. Legal proceedings and regulatory processes involve uncertainty, and past outcomes in similar matters do not predict future results.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you in connection with any service is limited to the fee paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses arising from the use of this website or our services.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, negligence causing personal injury, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Malaysian law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Sandaran Law from any claims, losses, or costs arising from your misuse of this website, breach of these Terms, or provision of inaccurate information in connection with your matter.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by giving written notice. Upon termination, fees for work already carried out become payable. Sandaran Law may retain copies of documents relevant to the matter for the purposes of compliance with professional obligations.
Clauses relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution survive termination of any engagement.
12. Dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of our services shall first be addressed through informal discussion. If the matter cannot be resolved informally, it shall be referred to mediation before litigation is pursued.
The courts of Malaysia, specifically the courts in Melaka or Kuala Lumpur, shall have jurisdiction over any legal proceedings arising from this Agreement.
13. General provisions
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any written engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the Services.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without prior written consent. We may assign our rights where necessary for business continuity.
- Notices: Formal notices under these Terms should be sent in writing to the address below or by email to [email protected].
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Significant changes will be reflected in a revised effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of this website or our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
