A practice built on patient, principled support
Sandaran Law was established to fill a quiet but important need — legal counsel for pension matters that treats every client with respect and takes time to explain things properly.
← Back to HomeWhere the name comes from
Sandaran is a Malay word for a backrest or support — something steady that holds you while you think things through. That word shapes everything we do at Sandaran Law.
The practice was founded in Melaka after years of observing a recurring difficulty: people approaching retirement, or already relying on pension income, often had real legal questions but found the legal world unwelcoming. Appointments felt hurried. Language was dense. Costs were opaque.
We opened this practice to do things differently. Our work is limited to pension matters — not because we had to narrow our focus, but because we chose to. Concentration allows us to understand the landscape in full and to give each client time and attention that general practice rarely permits.
Based at Taman Kota Laksamana in Melaka, we serve clients across the state and surrounding region. Many come through word of mouth — which, for us, is the best indication that what we do is working.
What we are here to do
Make the law accessible
We believe that understanding your own pension rights should not require a law degree. Plain language is not a simplification — it is a courtesy.
Protect your dignity
Pension concerns are often deeply personal. We handle each matter with discretion and treat every client as a person first — not a case number.
Move at your pace
We do not push clients towards quick decisions. If you need more time to think, we make time. Every decision remains yours.
Who you'll speak with
A small, focused team that works closely together — so the person you speak to the first time will be familiar with your matter when you call again.
Ahmad Hafiz
Principal Solicitor
Over fifteen years advising on employment and pension law in Malaysia. Ahmad leads all dispute and appeal matters personally.
Nora Salleh
Legal Executive
Nora coordinates client matters, manages correspondence with pension bodies, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
Zulkifli Rahman
Client Relations
Zulkifli is usually the first voice you hear. He takes time to listen before directing your enquiry to the right person.
How we maintain quality and trust
These are the professional and ethical commitments that underpin every matter we handle.
Bar Council registration
Practice registered with the Malaysian Bar. All solicitors hold current practising certificates and are subject to professional conduct rules.
Strict confidentiality
Client information is protected by legal professional privilege and our own internal data handling policy. Nothing leaves our office without your consent.
Written fee agreements
All fees are confirmed in writing before any work begins. Clients receive a clear statement of what is included and when payment is expected.
Continuing legal education
Our solicitors complete mandatory continuing legal education hours each year, with particular attention to developments in pension law and related legislation.
Plain-language commitment
Every written note and verbal explanation is checked to ensure it is understandable without legal training. We do not communicate in unnecessary complexity.
Professional indemnity
Full professional indemnity insurance is maintained, as required by the Malaysian Bar. Clients can engage us with confidence in our accountability.
Legal knowledge focused on pension matters in Malaysia
Pension matters in Malaysia sit at the intersection of several legal frameworks — the Employees Provident Fund Act, the Pension Act 1980 for public servants, and where appropriate, the Private Retirement Scheme regulations administered by the Securities Commission. Navigating these frameworks requires familiarity not only with the legislation itself, but with the administrative processes of the relevant bodies.
At Sandaran Law, our focus on this area means we have a working understanding of the typical timelines, documentation requirements, and escalation paths involved in pension reviews and appeals. We know which forms need to accompany which submissions, and we know how to write clearly to pension authorities in a way that presents your matter fairly.
We also understand that for many clients, a pension concern arrives alongside other worries — about income, about family, about what happens next. Our approach acknowledges that context. We are not simply processing a legal file; we are helping a person work through something that matters to their future security.
Our practice values can be stated simply: honesty about what we can and cannot do, transparency about what things cost, and patience with every person who comes to us for help.
